Lose Weight without Counting Calories
You don’t have to be a major genius to start losing weight or looking really good in the
mirror today. I’ve seen so many people count calories and record their food intake (not a
bad idea of course); but honestly, simplicity is the key to this whole health deal.
I’ve lost 35 pounds of fat and gained 10 pounds of muscle this past year alone (seiously)
with little more than 20 minutes of daily exercise and these tips that will help you do
the same thing:
1) Eat more produce; fruits and vegetables are crucial to any healthy meal plan, so check
out a food pyramid and incorporate a serving or two into each meal you eat. I
personally like to have 2 bananas per day (great source of energy and potassium) to give
me an extra boost of energy and I eat a salad and plenty of fresh beans, lettuce,
cucumbers, and tomatoes at the bare minimum. Besides the extra fat loss, you’ll feel great
and save money at the grocery store. The more fruits and veggies you eat the better!
*quick tip: eat fruits on an empty stomach for maximum nutrients
2) Be smart about how you snack; make sure snacks are spaced out to keep your metabolism
pumping. Also, pick the right kinds of snacks. Foods rich in protein and dairy keep the
hormones balanced and promote muscle growth along with weight loss characteristics. Eat
whole grain carbs and low-fat high nutrient dips as well as salsas.
3) Drink lots of water; people who take pops, sports drinks, and other sugar-filled
monsters out of their diets (post link) by substituting with water to avoid costly calories
that really aren’t necessary in a healthy diet. Crystal light and flavored water drinks are
okay…but stick to basics for maximum results.
4) Stick to portions; if you keep your meals at smaller proportions and eat more
frequently (every 2 to 3 hours instead of big meals that are spaced 5 or more hours
apart), you’ll avoid extra cortisol production and keep stress-related fat to a minimum.
As I get older, eating balanced not only appeals to my health, but also to my tastes. Eat
smaller portions on your plate of a more balanced meal.
