Eat McDonald’s, Lose Weight?

It seems like every time I’m at McDonald’s, there is little to think about when it comes to nutritional menu choices…I end up getting just 2 grilled snack wraps because: “what else could possibly be decent to eat?” Apparently …a LOT…read on:McDonald's Food

Well, not being a frequent visitor of the world’s most well-known eating establishment…and even though the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson claims to eat the crap everyday, this news flash kind of caught me off guard:

A guy from Virgina actually lost over 80 pounds in just 6 short months by eating pretty much PURE Mickey D’s…no he didn’t go haywire on the super-sized menu or order excessive fries and Big Macs, but with the help of the decent assortment of salads, wraps (cheeeuhh), and fruit sides, Chris Coleson now weighs a meager 199 pounds after weighing in at 278 pounds back in December…lol, WOW.

The guy only chose McDonald’s because it’s convenient (that’s the total point of McDonald’s…it’s always there when you need it and you KNOW what to expect when you order).

Apparently his initial weight loss inspiration was sprung from his kids and a recent story he’d heard about a blind war vet who rode a tandem (double-seated bike) across the United States…craziness.

He still has 14 pounds to go (185 pounds total) to reach his ultimate goal…the same weight he weighed back in 1998 when he married his wife. I’m sure this will be a great way to celebrate.

Happy anniversary Chris!

I saw this story on yahoo too but I dont know if thats possible. Did he eat every meal at McDonald’s or just some? Because the guy on the “Supersize Me” movie ate there everyday and got huge.

I think he just ate most meals there when possible…I really have serious doubts as well when people claim WHOLE method item diets: meaning that they did just 1 thing to have all the success in the world…the key here is that he ate most of the food spread out and ate just the good stuff.

He lost weight but personally I would never recommend anyone do this. I would never recommend anyone skip breakfast, deprive themselves of calories or eat Mac Donalds ever to lose weight. 98% of fast food is loaded with hidden sugars and fats not to mention high fructose corn syrup. Without the proper lifesyle change and proper habits he is setting himself up for failure if he wants to keep the weight off long term. Again he lost weight but is he going healthier eating this food? I surely doubt it.

Oh before I go.. why is this national news? People lose weight everyday working their butt off..and working hard and eating the right foods. Leave it to the media to glorify them for losing weight eating fast food….the guy is on Good Morning America for eating Mac Dondalds crap food. I think this just inspired my next blog. :-)

I think the reason why it’s in the national news isn’t so much of the situation as it is the fact that when you think about obesity, the first food place you think about is McDonald’s…with that contrast in mental association, I think people respond pretty pro actively; either that or it was a Mickey D’s payoff for free positive press… :)

I did see the show and thought it was a pretty ridiculous thing to glorify him for weight loss when so many people are doing it the right way.

I know…David is right; it’s just that it’s McDonald’s and we see fat people eating there all the time…so when someone claims the success of their weight loss regime is from the fattest restaurant in the world…we all take notice. Ya know?
